The training to become an accessibility specialist lasts 2 years and takes place part-time (2 days per week).
We are currently redesigning our training programme. The next training cycle will start in 2026 at the earliest.
In our training course, we integrate our trainees into the everyday business routine for two days per week. In addition to providing an insight into our work, we offer structured training modules to teach the most important professional skills for ICT accessibility specialists. These include:
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, creating static websites and customizing content in content management systems.
- Expert knowledge in testing and creating accessibility reports according to the International Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
- Expert knowledge in accessibility techniques such as WAI-ARIA and HTML5
- Introduction to project management
- Transfer of know-how on awareness-raising activities for digital accessibility as well as public relations work
- Optionally, according to interest, aptitude and pre-existing knowledge, further contents are offered, such as:
- JavaScript
- Mobile Accessibility
Alongside active participation in the team and the specialised training modules, the trainees work independently on projects to consolidate and apply what they have learnt:
- Autonomously creating a website
- Conducting two small accessibility studies
- Accessibility project of your choice
If you already have computer science skills, a shorter training duration is also possible.
After successful completion of the training, you will be able to perform accessibility tests and create test reports with suggestions for improvement in such a way that they can be implemented by web programmers. You can describe accessibility issues simply and clearly for a broader audience. Also, you will be able to make a valuable contribution to raising awareness about digital accessibility thanks to your expertise in the field.
